The president serves as the presiding officer of the PTA and chairs the executive board and membership meetings.

Quick-Start Actions

• Call a meeting of the elected officers within 30 days of the election meeting to appoint the historian, parliamentarian and standing committee chairs. Appointments are subject to the approval of the board.

• Schedule a meeting with your campus administrator to discuss goals and expectations for the upcoming year.
• Develop a Plan of Work and submit to the Executive Board for approval. View a Sample Plan of Work: English | Spanish.
• Appoint a member, subject to the approval of the executive board, who is not authorized to sign on the bank account, to review each account statement, and complete the Statement Review by Non-Signer checklist. 
• Sign the Confidentiality, Ethics and Conflict of Interest Agreement and submit to the Secretary.
• Complete all mandatory FOUNDATIONS training within 30 days of election or appointment.

• Develop a Plan of Work and review Plans of Work (POW) for each position 
• Work with Treasurer and review budget/expenditures
• Build a strong relationship with the Principal
• Chair all Executive & Membership meetings
• Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating committee and Financial Reconciliation committee
• Work with all positions and assist as needed
• Oversee work of the Board
• Represent your PTA as a delegate to the Allen ISD Council of PTAs
• Communicate updates from TX PTA & Allen Council
• Represent the PTA in the community
• Educate board members on TX PTA legislative priorities
• Ensure your Local PTA meets all requirements of the Standards of Continuing Affiliation.
• Sign all contracts which have been approved by the board.
• Be an authorized signer on the bank account.
• Foster an environment of open communication among all board members.
