Environmental Programs
The Allen ISD Council of PTAs partners with the Keep Allen Beautiful(KAB) organization on several environmental related programs which help keep Allen a clean, healthy and attractive city and promote environmental awareness among the students.
Arbor Day Poster Contest
The Arbor day poster contest aims to foster a love for trees in fourth and fifth graders. This year’s theme is “Trees are Terrific...in Cities and Towns!” The contest will close on September 27 at midnight, and winners will be notified by October 2. The awards ceremony will be held at the Fall Festival on October 10, with the time still to be determined. More information can be found here.

Waste Works Awards
The City of Allen, Keep Allen Beautiful (KAB), and Community Waste Disposal (CWD) developed the Waste Works Award, which is a joint grant of $400 to encourage student education/involvement activities resulting in increased environmental awareness in Allen ISD students. The following PTAs/campuses received the grant this year. This years application can be found here. Applications are due September 30, 2026.
Recycled Art Contest
The recycled art contest was open for all grades from K-12. This year’s theme celebrated Allen’s 150 years and encouraged students to submit posters or sculptures made out of recyclable materials. The winners were honored at an awards ceremony on Saturday, May 2 at the City of Allen Municipal Service Center. Congratulations to all the winners!

Reuse-a-shoe Contest
PTAs participating in the Reuse-a-shoe contest collected 534 gently used shoes for donation to people in need.
- 1st Place - Bolin Elementary collected 241 pairs of shoes. They received a certificate and a prize worth $400
- 2nd Place - Marion Elementary collected 221 pairs of shoes. They received a certificate.
