Keep Allen Beautiful

 

Keep Allen Beautiful (KAB) is an organization dedicated to developing and fostering programs which help make Allen a cleaner, healthier and more attractive city. KAB hosts a number of annual programs and provides public education and outreach opportunities year-round.


Allen Garden Club

 

The mission of the Allen Garden Club is to educate the people in Allen and surrounding areas about natural gardening practices and the benefits of gardening, encouraging people to conserve our natural resources and exemplify public spirit by participation in community service projects.


Educator Expo - SEPTEMBER

 

The Educator Expo gives educators a chance to network & discover educational programs designed to enhance curricula. Teachers, home school groups, scout leaders, and PTA members are invited to attend. The 2023 Educator Expo will be held on Thursday, September 28, from 4 to 6 pm at the Allen Senior Center. Recycled Art Contest - OCTOBER

 

This year, Keep Allen Beautiful is sponsoring a contest open to students in K-12 enrolled in Allen ISD, home schooled students, and students in the Plano ISD and Lovejoy ISD who reside in the Allen City Limits. This year's theme is "Take Care of Texas and Recycle!" The contest deadline is Oct. 21, 2023 at 5PM. Click here to view the contest rules. 


Allen Recycles Day - NOVEMBER


This annual event provides resident the opportunity to bring items for reuse or recycling to the City Hall parking lot. Participating organizations are on hand to collect these items. Middle and high school students are encouraged to receive volunteer hours by helping operate the event. This year's Allen Recycles Day is November 4th, 2023.


Arbor Day Poster Contest - DECEMBER

 

This contest challenges 4th and 5th grade students to design and create informational posters. The current theme is: "Trees are terrific...in All Shapes and Sizes!" Winners are recognized at an Allen City Council meeting in February or March. The first place winner receives recognition at his/her school and a tree planted in their honor. Entries are due February 10, 2023 by 5PM. Contest details can be found here. 


Reuse-a-Shoe Contest - SPRING

 

All Allen ISD schools can collect and donate gently used shoes for Soles4Souls. All gently used shoes for children and adults can be donated. No flip-flops or high heels. Tie/rubber band each pair of shoes together and place them in the collection box in your school. This event normally takes place in the spring, right before the Great American Cleanup event.


Earthfest - SPRING

Earthfest is a community celebration of the great outdoors. This family-friendly event features hands-on environmental activities, nature walks, bird watching, wildlife presentations and more. Details will be added when they become available. 


Great American Cleanup - SPRING

 

This is the largest cleanup event in Collin County! Residents can drop off trash, computers, household goods, yard waste, cardboard, shoes, cell phones eyeglasses and more. Items will be reused or recycled if possible. Paper shredding services are also available. Middle and high school students who need volunteer hours are encouraged to participate.
